Casoca Waterfall, Casoca Valley

Current article version: Casoca Waterfall, Casoca Valley.

Casoca Waterfall, or Pruncea as it is also called, is located on Casoca Valley, close to Podul Calului Mountains and to Casoca, Coltu Pietrii, Lunca Jaristei, Lunca Priporului and Siriu Dam Lake in the north-western part of Buzau County.

The nearest asphalt road to Casoca Waterfall is DN 10 (Buzau - Nehoiu - Brasov).

Car access can be achieved with any type of car driving on DN 10 towards Siriu Dam Lake. If you are coming from Brasov you need to pass the lake, the dam and the hair pin turns located immediatly after it and take a left on the first asphalt road (DC 64) which you will encounter in Lunca Jaristei and is going towards Casoca village (please see the location in Street View). If you are coming from Buzau you need to take a right on the same asphalt road which is located before the hair pin turns near Siriu Dam (please see the location on Google Maps).

You need to continue on DC 65 cca. 2,0 km, through Casoca village, until you arrive at a point where the asphalt road turns into a dirt road. From this point you have cca. 4,0 km of dirt road until you reach Casoca Waterfall. On the way you will pass 14 Scaune Chalet**, which is opened for turists.

Follow the dirt road towards your goal until you reach an intersection with a dirt road to the right. You will know you have reached the correct location because this road crosses the mountain river over a bridge, also being the only other dirt road encountered so far (please see the location on Google Maps). This road section should not pose problems for any type of car.

Stop here because you have to take the path that is on the left of the bridge, and climbes down to Casoca Waterfall. There is a small wooden sign that indicates the location. GPS coordinates: N 45°31'35" E 26°18'1".
