Schinda Waterfall, Teleajenului Valley

Please be aware that the blog has been moved to www.carpathiandream.com.
Current article version: Schinda Waterfall, Teleajenului Valley.

Schinda Waterfall is located on the Teleajen River Valley, near Tataru Mountain, close to Cerasu, Gheaba, Homoraciu, Izvoarele, Maneciu-Pamanteni, Maneciu-Ungureni, Podurile, Valea Borului, Valea Bradetului, Valea Lespezii and Cheia Mountain Resort in the north of Prahova County.

The nearest asphalt roads to Schinda Waterfall are DN 1A (Bucharest - Ploiesti - Valenii de Munte - Brasov) and DJ 230 (Drajna de Sus - Podurile - Valea Lespezii) which is continued by DC 30 (Valea Lespezii - Slon).

Car access can be achieved with any type of car driving on DN 1A towards Cheia. If you are coming from Brasov you need to cross through Cheia Mountain Resort and take a left turn on the first dirt road (please see the location on Google Maps). If you are coming from Ploiesti you need to take a right turn on the same dirt road before entering Cheia Mountain Resort (please see the location in Street View).

The dirt road goes on for 5,5 km until it enters Stanii Valley, where it meets the Teleajen River at a road intersection (please see the location on Google Maps). This road should not pose problems for any type of car. You should follow the road going to the right which is paralell with the Teleajen River.

You need to continue on this dirt road cca. 8,0 km until you arrive near a chalet on the right side of the road. Depending on the season you are in patches of mud can form on the road which can cause problems for city cars not equipped with 4x4 traction.

Stop near the chalet because on the left, on the river, is Schinda Waterfall. You can not see it from this angle, but you can surely hear it. So, continue on the road cca. 50 m to see the waterfall (please see the location on Google Maps). GPS coordinates: N 45°22'35" E 26°1'10".

The return trip to DN 1A should be made using the same route you took to get here because the road that continues after the chalet is ruined (verified personaly in October 2014) and can not be traversed even with 4x4s.
